Calling All Attorneys To Assist Haitian Nationals With Temporary Immigration Status
The City Bar Justice Center and the American Immigration Lawyers Association need your assistance! Please read the following information from the Metropolitan Black Bar Association:
The City Bar Justice Center and the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) are seeking volunteers to assist Haitian nationals in their application for TPS, Temporary Protected Status. Below is the formal request for attorney and non-attorney volunteers:
As you may know, Haitian nationals who entered the U.S. before the earthquake may be eligible to apply for TPS, Temporary Protected Status. Haitians have only a window of 180 days to apply for TPS. With a large number of Haitians residing in New York, your assistance is greatly needed.
The City Bar Justice Center will be holding a clinic in conjunction with AILA (the American Immigration Lawyers Association) on Thursday, January 28th from 5:00p.m.-8:00p.m. at the City Bar Association to help Haitians fill out the TPS application and fee waiver request. We are looking for attorneys to volunteer at this clinic. Please have interested attorneys and other volunteers contact Laura Kolesar at lkolesar@nycbar.org as soon as possible. No specific immigration experience is required. If you have employees who are not lawyers but are either notaries or Haitian Creole speakers, we have a need for both at the clinic.
Interested attorneys need to be trained before volunteering, and should register for the free webinar offered by the Lutheran Immigration & Refugee Service, “Applying for Temporary Protected Status for Haitians.” The webinar will take place on Friday, January 22nd from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. EST. Registration can be completed at the link below. We are hopeful that other trainings will become available in the coming days, and will let you know if they do.

We will also be asking firms to provide resources for the clinic, including copies of applications to be completed. If your firm is interested in helping in this way, please let us know.
Thank you in advance for helping us to quickly pull together the necessary people and resources to make this possible. As always, we are grateful for your commitment to pro bono. If you have any questions, please contact me.

Who Knew…
That Tiger could be sexy! Never saw him in that light. But, all of a sudden he is a bad ass! Ok, devil’s advocate for a minute…could all of this be a publicity stunt to change his reputation??? Crazy thought, huh! But, everything seems to be happening all at the right time. Being bombarded with the constant Tiger news has driven me to random thoughts lol!

What Should I Wear To A Football Game???
I am sooooo super duper excited that I’m going to a Giants Football game!!! Yippy! I am not being sarcastic. This Fashionista loves football thanks to my big brother and this is his Christmas gift to me. Awww, so sweet since all he’s getting this year is LOVE
(refer to my last post).
We are going to tailgate with some of his friends. I never been tailgating before. Can you tell I’m excited. Oh my goodness I need a snuggie!!!! Ok, calm down…so what do I wear? Comfort and warm clothing right?! No heels lol! Ok, I’ll let you know how it goes. Perhaps I’ll share a pic or two.
Thanks big brother, love your baby sis! Muah! P.S. Giants can we win this game. Thanks!

Oh my goodness…
I have not posted in a couple of weeks! Craziness! Such is life. So, many different things to tend to with the Holiday Season and just life in general. Hope all has been well with you! All is well with me, sorry no juicy details for you.
So, I have a few tips for this Holiday Season that you can take into this New Year:
1) If you haven’t already done so, don’t go crazy with the last-minute shopping. Not worth it! It drives a person insane and for what. Stay calm, in all seriousness, the best gift is LOVE! That’s what everyone will be getting this year, so you better like it lol! Or should I say LOVE IT!
2) Don’t make any resolutions. You’ll most likely break them. Just be decisive in your actions with each individual situation that arises. Take it as you go.
3) Oh, I said this on my fanpage already, but its worth repeating: Patience, Preparation and Persistence are the key components to staying in this journey of life. If you’re lacking in one of these areas then you know what you need to tackle. What are you waiting for…hop to it!
4) Make every moment count! Even when you don’t want to. Stay present, don’t continue to live in the past nor live for the future, how about living in the present and now. I know it’s hard right, but doable!
Ok, well that wraps up my Sunday Fashionista Bible Class! Hope you enjoyed today’s sermon…we shall reconvene next week Sunday lol!
Ciao!
Amanda Knox Convicted
Do you all remember that American College student that was charged with murder of her roommate in Italy? The trial lasted a very long year. They convicted her of murder, sentencing her to 26 yrs in prison. Her ex-boyfriend was sentenced to 25 years. It was a very strange case from the start with allegations of a twisted sex game that ended in the death of Meredith Kercher. Read more about her story at WSJ.
